Background
People have been talking about, and also, witnessed the catastrophic impacts of ocean debris on marine animals for decades. Yet, few things have been improved largely due to people’s lack of action on recycling. Many of them also feel detached from the ocean and marine animals due to a lack of contact and engagement with the ocean. Based on the two factors – the lack of proper recycling, and people’s detachment with the sea, I created the game – Ocean Action.
About the game
Ocean Action is a fun and simple shooting game, inspired by the classic Asteroids and Gold Miner. In the game, the player’s job is to protect the fishes from ocean contamination. To do that, the player will drive a multi-functional submarine to clean and collect different types of ocean debris. When it comes to the non–recyclables, which in the game look like giant irregular blocks, the player has to shoot laser to destroy them. When it comes to the recyclables, such as bottles or cans, the play has to collect them. If the player wrongly destroys or collects the trashes, he/she will get points off. The more trashes there are in the ocean, the more likely the fishes will die. Therefore, the player has to clean and sort the trashes as soon as possible to pass the game.
